Did November Really Just Happen?

Oh my goo-ness! This has to be the quickest a month has gone by all year long! And now the Christmas season is upon us...

Thanksgiving, which happens to be one of my fave holidays of course, was awesome as always! What's not to love about a holiday centered around food? (I know there's a more significant meaning to it, but it does involve us eating A LOT!) That being said, I ate too much but it was totally worth it...I'll def be trying to shave off a couple of the pounds left from the aftermath though...

Earlier this month, I had what is probably one of my new favorite sandwiches! It's from a new place that just opened up called Hero Doughnuts in Homewood, AL. They've actually been doing pop-ups for a while but finally had the opportunity to open up their own shop. Their doughnuts are top notch, but I was pleasantly surprised by this Super Crunch! It's a fried chicken sandwich made with a homemade brioche bun, homemade pickles, pepper jelly, and something they call "crack sauce." Sounds like something you'd want to hop in your car and go get? Well if that didn't convince you, here's a couple pics of this lovely creation!

Well now that you're drooling, I suppose I'll say goodbye for now. Hope you and yours have the happiest of holidays! And if you don't hear from me before Christmas, it's probably because I'll be in a food coma from all the goodies that come along with it...Merry Christmas!

Happy Halloweenie!

Happy Halloween everybody! Hope it was spook-tacular! :)

I'm going to keep this one short even though it's been a little bit, but I will totally add more in the next week or so! Had fun about two weeks ago with Heavenly Donut Co. decorating some doughnuts on WBRC for Halloween. I got a little creative of course and made my very own "Mini-Me!" Ha! Even made it on WBRC and Heavenly Donut Co.'s "Insta-Stories" on Instagram...Just wanted to share since after all, it is All Hallow's Eve...Bwahahaha! Here's some linkage to the segment, plus some pics from the day...

A Couple Solo Interviews (But No Han)...

What's up ever-body! Hope life's been good for ya! I mentioned in my last blog that I didn't have a link to share of my solo interview I did for WBRC. Well here it is! Of course I had to record it off of my TV, so pardon the volume not being the best...

Doing interviews is always fun to me though, especially when the person doing the interview makes it fun and is easy to talk with. Janet Hall is definitely one of the "Greats" out here where I live! She knows her stuff!

Okay, so here's another interview I did fairly recently on another channel, don't tell WBRC! ;) It was a hoot as well and I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to be on Talk of Alabama again. Javante was really cool and actually had to do the whole show by herself that day, so bravo to her! They don't allow you to have your cell phone out on set so I wasn't able to get any pics there, but I did get a couple snazzy little screenshots! Enjoy!

Well July Flew By...

I can't believe it's already August! Time definitely goes by super fast when you're older!

So I actually flew solo for the news at the end of June, but they never put a video online (I'm working on that though!) for me to share. :( Here's a couple snapshots from it though, most of which are selfies. And I'm terrible at selfies I might add! Ha!

Had a lot of fun as you can see!

My next trip to WBRC in early July was with this little known BBQ joint you've probably never heard of called Dreamland...Can you sense the sarcasm here? Ha! No they are actually one of the biggest names in the biz when it comes to their barbeque, not just here in Alabama, but all over! I'm a big fan of their ribs, but this "Big Daddy" sandwich they made on the news with me was rather tasty! Yummo! I'm looking forward to hopefully doing more with them in the future!

Sadly, I didn't get booked for any news fun in August, but I will be back in September! Just last Friday I took one of my fave BBQ places that's local to my area. R & R BBQ has some of the best cue I've had, and I've had a lot of it trust me! But Colt actually was showcasing one of the brisket burgers he does. And this thang was no joke! The name says it all, and the T-Rex didn't disappoint with it's tastiness! It was Jurass-tastic! Just watch this and see if you don't want to drive to Odenville to get you one...

Here's a few pics in case you want more after watching the video!

Look for more content coming to my YouTube channel soon as well! Got a few things in the works, and I'll def keep ya posted. Peace out!

Daylight Donuts Leeds/Moody Round 2: Cool Key Lime Doughnut WBRC

Just in time for summer I was able to bring Jonathan of Daylight Donuts Leeds/Moody with me again to be on WBRC. And seeing how it is summer, he showed us how to make their seasonal "Cool Key Lime Doughnut." Isn't it purdy?

I'll be honest with you, I've never been a big key lime pie fan, but this doughnut is actually pretty good...The buttercream icing on top also adds a nice touch to the additional flavors. They've got quite a variety at their location as well, some of which you won't find most places. So if you live in the area you should definitely check them out!

I always have too much fun on the set before we go on! Also decided to play around with the image of Jonathan holding the doughnuts in Photoshop to make them pop more because they're so bright!

Busy-Busy, May Sure Has Been A Tizzy!

April showers brought May flowers, and also a busy month! So I've got quite a few items to share in this particular post! So buckle in!

Back on May 5th I had Bendy's Cookies & Cream with me on the WBRC Noon cooking segment and we had some ice cream sammies that were amazing! I got to make my own I called the "Churro Especial" in honor of Cinco de Mayo and it was delish! Snickerdoodle cookies, cinnamon vanilla sugar ice cream, sprinkles, the whole nine! You can see what it looked like in the pic below...It was after a couple bites of course! ;)

And so if that wasn't enough sweet toothy goodness...I went straight from the news and my lovely ice cream creation to try some homemade churros that Heavenly Donut Co. was doing as a special! And of course I had to do a little video about it! :) It's also the first ever version of my short vids I'm calling "First Bite." Fingers crossed they may eventually have these on the menu full-time!

Next on the docket, is The Hot Tag and I's trip to WBRC on May 19th. I actually wasn't feeling too snazzy that day, but I soldiered on and put on my best face for the news...The Mr. Olympia burger they made on there was so delicious! The video should be enough to tempt you, but I'll post a pic or two to go along with it!

And lastly...Gosh I know, foodie overload right! Hopefully you've made it this far with all of this stuff though! Ha! I shot a To-Go "minisode" with MELT out in Avondale which is a hot-spot for some great restaurants out here in Birmingham, AL. Everything I've eaten there has been great, and definitely cheesy! I love me some cheese! Check it out and maybe I won't spring everything on you all at once in the next post!

R & R BBQ "Loaded Totchos" on WBRC

Let me just tell you, if you've never had totchos, it's time for that in your life! R & R BBQ out here in Odenville, AL has got some and they're "loaded!" We're talking tater tots, bacon, cheese, ranch, queso, and of course their amazing pulled pork...I don't think simply describing them does much justice! So that's why I'm providing this lovely video link for you to enjoy from our recent segment on WBRC! ;)

WBRC R & R Loaded Totchos

And if that video wasn't enough, here's a little bit of that pork glorious-ness for you to ogle...

Of course, can't forget the creative pork genius who creates this awesome stuff, Colt Reese. He's always coming up with fresh jazzy menu items at his place! Oh and in case you were wondering, I'm wearing the bowtie because I was messing with one of the anchors who always wears one like it on air. He usually sneaks in towards the end of the segment to try whatever's cooking as you'll see in the vid...

But anyhooz, just wanted to go ahead and share this with ya. You know, since I've been so darn slacky lately! Take it easy!

Sorry For Slacking & WBRC Segments

Okay, okay. I know I've mentioned something before about slacking with my posts. But this time around it's a total slack-tastic situation!

I've done three more appearances with guests on WBRC and have yet to mention that on here. Like I said, absolute slackery! I won't talk too much on this post, but just share photos and video clips.

On National Pi Day I took Old Town Pizza believe it or not! I didn't even think about that when I set that up, but it was 3/14 after all! Somehow the digital feed at WBRC wasn't transferred, so no clip on that one. But I do have these fun pictures where the second one looks like I'm doing some sort of dinosaur move. Not sure? Ha!

The next go 'round I was able to take Isaac of Swoul Food with me again for a chance to show off his Swoul Pies and man were they delish! And they're healthy too! ;)

Then this past Friday, April 7th I got a local donut shop close to where I live to go with me. Who doesn't love donuts right?! I know what you're thinking at this point, you were slacking so much by not sharing ANY of this with us! Sorry, gah! Ha! Daylight Donuts Leeds/Moody has some really tasty sweet treats though!

Okay, now that I've hopefully overcome my slacky-ness you'll forgive me! I won't let it happen again I swear! (You should try to have some kind of game with the amount of times I used some form of "slack" in this post, might be fun! Ha!) There's actually one more thing I was going to talk about on here, but I'll save it for the next one...Until next time! Peace!

WBRC Segment With Swoul Food

I'm trying not to slack like I did last time ya'll...

So, to avoid taking too long to make a post, here's the latest appearance on WBRC I did this past Friday with my buddy Isaac Robinson of Swoul Food. It was cut a little short due to a segment before us going a little longer, but what can ya do! Live TV!  ðŸ“º Sherea was super nice as well!

I also debuted my totally awesome t-shirts that my friend Laurin of Humphries Screen Printing did for me! I'll be wearing these each time I appear with a guest on air from now on...Here's a link to their site if you want to check out what they do.

I'll try and keep you posted sooner on more stuff in the future. Take it easy ever-body! 😉

WBRC Segment With Little Bit of R & R BBQ

I know, I know, I'm slacking...

This actually happened a little over a week ago, and I've been meaning to make a post about it. I recently set something up with one of our local news stations, WBRC Fox 6 here in Birmingham where I'll bring a restaurant with me twice a month. It will be for this noon cooking segment they have, so if you live in the area check it out!

This was the first one I've done with them and it was a blast! Looking forward to many more to come and hopefully I'll have some new places to show ya. Here's some clippage!

Here's a few pics from the experience too...
